Over the Years
1888
Founded
- John Boyd Dunlop invented the pneumatic tyre in Belfast, Northern Ireland
1890
- The Dunlop Pneumatic Tyre company moves to Coventry the heart of bicycle manufacture in the UK
1914
- White and Pope expand the munitions factories in Holbrooks from 350–12,000 employees making fuses and engines for the war effort.
1919
- HOLBROOKS
- Dunlop moves onto the Holbrooks site in Coventry
1930
- Dunlop pneumatically actuated brake was invented.
1934
- Dunlop hydraulic braking was invented
1946
- Dunlop took out Patent No: 688382 this was to be the becoming of the disk brake, this gave them a lead with disc brakes in the automotive industry.
1950
- Dunlop Suspensions and Components Formed and Maxaret ABS was invented
1973
- Dunlop Invents Carbon disc brakes which was inspired from aircraft breaking on Concorde
1990
- Electronic Controlled Air Suspension was Invented (development started under Dunlop)
2007
- Management Buy Out of the Coventry Plant and the formation of Dunlop Systems and Components
2010
- LOADSAFE
- Loadsafe vehicle weighing product was developed by Dunlop
2014
- Dunlop moves to a new purpose-built facility at Prologis Park in Coventry, in a step to beocme carbon neutral.
2017
- Aftermarket
- Dunlop Systems & Components launched the new DAS & DAC range
2021
- Pneuride Ltd is formed, along with the name change to Dunlop Suspension Systems
